Greatest Job Ever!

Love singing, dancing, and working with kids?  Music Together® may be the perfect fit for you!

Music Together is a place for musical people to sing, dance and play with young families to share the joy (and necessity) of music to make a life richer, more fun, and connected. If this sounds good, read on!

An internationally known, research-based music and movement program for children ages 0-5 and their parents and caregivers, Music Together classes are like teaching aerobics, preschool and hosting a party all at the same time. Seriously.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR TEACHERS!

TELL ME MORE

If you’re aligned with energetic fun, comfort and curiosity in meeting new people, not afraid of a skosh of chaos, are musical, AND have experience with kids 0-5, you might be perfect for this position.

DEFINE 'MUSICAL'

This is everything from a music or theater major, member of a choir, a tinkering musician or an aficionado.

AND I WOULD BE DOING EXACTLY WHAT?

You would be leading 45-minute classes, which include a rich variety of movement activities, singing, chanting, and age-appropriate instrumental jam sessions, helping families learn to incorporate music into their lives and teaching them what a huge impact musical experimentation has on all learning.  Watch as parents and kids experience The Joy of Family Music®.

WHAT DOES MUSIC TOGETHER NEED IN A TEACHER?

We like teachers to be available 2-3 days a week, to teach 2-3 (and sometimes 4) back-to-back classes each day.  While we do have lots of classes in the mornings, we are looking for teachers that have availability in the weekday afternoons (3 pm – 6 pm) and/or Saturday mornings (9 am – 1 pm), with further opportunity for expanded offerings in the future.  Classes are held in Dilworth, Southpark, Blakeney, Plaza Midwood, Lake Wylie, Davidson, and South Charlotte.

Teachers need to attend an online training workshop as soon as possible and begin “apprenticing” with an experienced teacher this summer.

Qualities of a teacher:

  • Personality – engaging, friendly, authentic, fun
  • Vocal skills – sing in tune, accessible voice, not too performance-oriented
  • Rhythm skills – maintain accurate rhythm, beat is evident in both upper and lower body
  • Movement skills – can move on the beat with ease and with clear and comfortable direction
  • Leading skills – comfortable leading movement and enjoy connecting with others through movement and eye contact using a non-formal approach
  • Receptive to feedback – open to changing things, can incorporate suggestions and guidance from a mentor
  • Have vocal & physical stamina – able to bounce kids in laps, dance, jump, skip, easily get up and down from sitting on the ground, and generally act like a kid all while singing with joy
  • Creativity – enjoy all genres of music and be ready to add your personal flair and taste to the curriculum

PLEASE EMAIL US AT [email protected] AND LET US KNOW WHY YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE A MUSIC TOGETHER TEACHER WITH US.  RESUMES ARE OPTIONAL.

COMPENSATION starts at $40/class ($20/class when “mentoring.”) We provide teachers with all curriculum, materials and training.
