About our Center
Serving the Charlotte area from 6 locations, Music Together of Charlotte, a licensed Music Together® center, is pleased and excited to make music memories with Charlotte families and their young children. Opened in 2000, Music Together of Charlotte has contributed to the development of a rich musical experience for families committed to rediscovering the pleasure and educational value of informal music experiences. Rather than emphasizing traditional music performances, the Music Together program encourages family participation in spontaneous musical activity occurring within the context of daily life. Our school recognizes that all children are musical and that every child needs a stimulating, supportive music environment to achieve basic competence in the wonderful human capacity for music-making.
What to Expect in Our Class
"Just remember the most important things you can model for your child are pleasure, interest, and the
desire to participate." Ms. Liz Seegers
As a family in one of our classes, you and your child will have the opportunity to play musically each week under the guidance of one of our early childhood music specialists. During class, you will sing and move to songs and rhythmic rhymes in a variety of meters and tonalities by participating in activities that include small and large movement, instrument play-alongs and community singing. These fun activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences that are developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers to participate in regardless of their own musical ability! In addition to the fun you will have in class, you will receive two professionally recorded CDs and a beautifully-illustrated songbook so you can continue the music-making fun at home. Families new to Music Together will also receive our “Music Together at Home: Helping Your Child Grow Musically” parent DVD.
